Welcome:

Welcome to Swiftless' Game Programming Site. Here you will be able to find tutorials for several topics, specifically graphics rendering and physics interactions. These tutorials are aimed towards hobbyist game developers and anyone who may want to learn how to use certain API's or programming languages, or even those who just want to learn how to write programs.

The site has recently gone through a major rewrite, which I happen to do on an almost annual basis, so if you find it difficult to navigate, or I have missed something, please send me an email. I reply to most emails, just make sure you use your manners.

Also, if you have any suggestions for tutorials, or something I should do to the site, please email me.

Recent News:

25/02/2009 - Hey all! I have a little linky for you that I recommend you take a look at.

The OpenGL Help Network was established as a means for people to get live help and interaction from developers through Internet Relay Chat (IRC). Whether specific help with OpenGL or other aspects of development, it is a vehicle for multiple people to discuss ideas, to get help with projects, or just idle with us.

The channel #OpenGL was established on the IRC network EnterTheGame.com on April 1, 2002. We have a good core group of people from around the world. All are welcome to join us!

GLPro.org and GLProgramming.com are our communal websites; perpetually under construction, they are custom sites for people to share their works of development.

Also, just letting you know that I am still around and still planning to update the site!

Planned tutorials include:

  • Hidden Line Removal using the Stencil Buffer
  • Frustum Culling
  • .obj Model Loading
  • 'Compass' for Object Location (want to know where you were attacked from?)
  • Bounding Box Collision

29/07/2008 - I have just had a request for a tiling example in OpenGL, so in response to this request, I have created a tutorial in the OpenGL Tutorials section showing how to create a 2D tiling effect. Yay for 2D tiled games :-) Some of them were the best!

If anyone else has a simple request, just ask :-) I would be more than happy to make it for you.

03/07/2008 - Well it has been way too long since my last update, and yes I am still wanting to update the site. I have just found the first 5 parts of my PhysX tutorials, so I have uploaded them and made them available.

I am also planning many more Game maker, GLSL, PhysX tutorials as well as a Java section as that is the main language I use at the moment in University.

I have alot going on, so please don't expect too much, but do expect something to happen every now and then. If it does, I will post it on this page.

Stay tuned.

21/12/2007 - Hey all, just received an email request for a third person camera tutorial, so on the OpenGL Tutorials page, you will now find a tutorial for creating your very own third person camera
:-)

I am working on more GLSL tutorials, Terrain tutorials and PhysX tutorials :-)

I love having a spare moment here and there, I now have time for the site again ^_^

Have fun all. Hope to have some more tutorials up soon.
